Certification
🎥 Get Ready for Your Certification Zoom Call
When you feel confident with the material, it’ll be time to book your certification Zoom call.
This is your opportunity to show that you can teach and lead.
You’ll be graded on your ability to present and demonstrate the techniques, so preparation and practice are essential.
You Must Practice Beforehand
To pass your certification, you must practice the strategies physically, not just study them. You’ll be asked to demonstrate and teach the material in real time—just like you would in front of a live class.
Expect to:
- Move, coach, and communicate clearly and confidently
- Demonstrate physical techniques with a partner
- Explain strategies as if teaching them to beginners
- Maintain control, safety, and clarity during your demo
If you haven’t practiced these moves out loud and on your feet, it will show—so train like you’re preparing to teach a real class.
You’ll Need a Training Partner
You must have a partner present on the Zoom call so you can demo the techniques properly. This could be a friend, family member, fellow instructor—anyone you can safely demonstrate with.
What You’ll Be Assessed On
You’ll be asked to demonstrate and teach several techniques and training methods. This includes:
- Soundbites – Deliver them clearly and confidently
- Active Shooter Strategies – Show clean, controlled demos and explain each move
- Teaching Breakdown – Walk through how you would coach a class on these skills
Your instructor will evaluate your delivery, clarity, safety, energy, and understanding. You’ll receive feedback on what you did well and where to improve.
Receiving Feedback
During and following your demonstration, your instructors will provide constructive feedback to help you refine your skills and teaching style. Embrace this feedback as an opportunity for growth and improvement.
Pass or Fail
Finally, based on your performance during the certification call, you'll either pass or fail the assessment. Passing means you've met the requirements and are ready to embark on your journey as a Certified Active Shooter instructor. If you don't pass, don't be discouraged—use the feedback to identify areas for improvement, continue working towards your goals and book in your next test date.
Receive Your Certification
Once you have passed your certificate will be emailed to you. You are now a fully certified Active Shooter Instructor.
